Starting a New Story

snowy balcony There is nothing like getting hit by a new story idea for a book. I was sitting at my computer last night, browsing the interwebs, and suddenly a new character popped into my head and began showing me her adventure. Of course, there is only one thing to do when this happens…start writing immediately! Even if it is 1:00 A.M., the first pages must get written. I ended up writing for two hours and making a good start on the book. It won’t be part of the Sully Point series, but will instead be a romantic suspense novel. I can tell already it is going to be a lot of fun to write.

Writing is like that for me, always unexpected. Until some new character decides to invade my headspace and let me know they are ready to be written. If the story is good, it will get its grip into me early on and then I write all the time. When I can live and breathe the story every day–that is the most fun of all.

Of course, this means I need to find some music for this new book. I have a mix of music I’ve used before, but it isn’t quite right. I think I may go with movie themes again. Or if anyone wants to suggest music to me, please feel free to use the email form to the right of this post! This story will be one of romance and suspense and it starts off with a bang. I need some good fast music, at least for right now, and then more romantic stuff for later.

Almost forgot–the photo is one from my balcony this winter. I am sick of snow!!! Today the sun is out and the sky is blue and yes, it is still cold at 26 degrees, but spring has got to be on its way. New England weather in the winter really gets me down, and I’m seriously starting to consider moving to a warmer climate. A lot warmer. For instance, Phoenix, Arizona, yesterday was 81 degrees…81!! Stay tuned for more on this topic. For now, I’m going to write.
